MetaMiner™GeneGo’s MetaMiner series provides: Unique, Proprietary, focused knowledge mining and data analysis platforms for Oncology, Respiratory, Infectious Diseases, Cardiovascular diseases, CNS, Metabolic diseases,Cystic Fibrosis, Immunology & Inflammation. Plus skin and nutrition.Common diseases cause fundamental changes in human systems both in terms of “loss of function” and “gain of function”. As diseases perturb hundreds of processes and pathways, they cannot be fully assessed by data analysis tools centered on normal functionality. Over the last three years, GeneGo has developed a unique systems reconstruction approach to building disease-specific analytical platforms, which consists of manual annotation of gene-disease causative associations, visualization of disease-effected pathways and analysis of disease OMICs data. The first MetaMiner platform was built for cystic fibrosis (CF) in close collaboration with Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics and leading experts in the CF field. This groundbreaking project is described in a white paper here . The CF pathway maps are available in the current version of MetaCore. This year, we substantially expanded the scope of MetaMiner program by launching an ambitious Oncology project (supported by an NCI grant) and inking several Partnership agreements with the leading drug companies and universities in the areas of oncology research, CNS, cardiovascular diseases and stem cells. MetaMiner Partnership Programs assume that development costs are shared between Members who direct the projects and specify deliverables. The programs are for three years and customizable to the interests of individual Partners. In 2009, GeneGo delivered 100+ pathway maps for MetaMiner Oncology (gastric, pancreatic, breast, prostate cancer and HCC), 18 pathway maps for MetaMiner CNS (Huntington’s and Multiple Sclerosis) and 30+ pathway maps for MetaMiner Stem cells covering mainly adult from hedgehog to WNY and NOTCH. Members include Top 10 Pharma companies, USC, University of Queensland, University of Sheffield, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, FDA, Van Andel Institute, Tgen, Northwestern Children’s Memorial Hospital, Institute of Psychiatry etc. In early 2010 we will kick off MetaMiner Respiratory (asthma and COPD), MetaMiner Metabolic Diseases (Type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis) and MetaMiner Skin (10 skin layers to observe sensitization). We are looking for additional members. If you are interested please call 858 756 7996 or email sales@genego.com
MetaMiner partnership program in human diseasesIt goes without saying that fundamental understanding of human diseases is necessary for successful disease research, drug and biomarker discovery, translational medicine and personalized health. However, reconstruction of disease mechanisms is a far from trivial endeavor, which requires technology and state-of-the-art domain expertise. Diseases represent abnormal states of human organism with dramatically altered homeostasis. Even Mendelian single-gene diseases such as cystic fibrosis, impact dozens of processes and pathways. In cancer and other common diseases, hundreds to thousands of genes and almost all cellular processes are de facto involved in a very complex evolutionary process in impaired cell types and organs. We have developed a systematic approach to disease reconstruction based on three pillars:
Over the last three years, we have formed several multi-year disease-focused collaborations with leading pharmaceutical companies, non-profit foundations and expert academic groups. These include:
The MetaMiners are multi-year membership programs in which GeneGo develops content and tools and Members direct the process, prioritize goals and edit the disease pathways using domain expertise. We welcome new members. Please call 858 756 7996, sales@genego.com See Also:
