About GeneGo - Data Mining for Systems Biology
GeneGo is a leading provider of data mining & analysis solutions in systems biology. Our data mining tools and databases help to capture and define the underlying biology behind different types of high-throughput experimental data and understand the effects of small molecule drug compounds in human tissues. We provide systems biology solutions for a full range of applications in life science research and drug development, from pre-clinical discovery and NCE applications to clinical trials, covering all aspects of biology and chemistry.

GeneGo’s flagship bioinformatics product in systems biology, MetaCore™, assists scientists in three main areas:
- Drug target selection and validation;
- Identification of biomarkers for specific disease states and
- Patient profiling in clinical trials.
Whether the data derives from microarray gene expression studies, SNPs, metabolic profiles or high content screening (HCS) assays, MetaCore’s sophisticated analytical data mining tools enable the identification and prioritization of the most relevant pathways, networks and cellular processes affected by the condition. The MetaCore™ suite works on the proprietary content of MetaBase™, GeneGo’s manually curated database of mammalian biology and medicinal chemistry. MetaBase™ is the most comprehensive knowledge base available today in systems biology. It allows scientists to network virtually all known human signaling and metabolic reactions and to understand how bioactive compounds interact with and affect these networks based on experimental data. Our second product, MetaDrug™, is GeneGo’s fully assembled systems pharmacology platform that can be used to predict human metabolites, toxicity and mode of action of novel small molecule compounds.
GeneGo’s customer list for our systems biology product offerings includes the largest life science companies and leading universities and research institutions in the US, Europe and Asia. We partner with a broad group of investigators in academy and industry with matching data analysis technologies, content databases and data analysis projects.
Tatiana Nikolskaya, Ph.D., previously a molecular biologist at the University of Chicago, founded GeneGo in 2000. Based on her extensive wet lab background, Dr. Nikolskaya defined the immediate utility of GeneGo technology for bench researchers as the key objective. The GeneGo multi-disciplinary team includes experts in molecular and systems biology, metabolism, graph theory, human diseases and medicinal chemistry. The company employs over 90 scientists and software developers at the corporate headquarters in St. Joseph, MI, with offices in San Diego, CA and in Moscow, Russia. GeneGo is a private company owned by the management team. Its sales revenues and technology grants fund ongoing research and product development for bioinformatics applications within systems biology.
